Health: Fresh Tastes

Last Friday, as part of our Health unit we discussed how to be healthy. We learned that we should be eating 3-5 serves of vegetables a day. We started taste testing some green vegetables. Here are some of our photos from the day.

Our Master Chefs at work!!!

Today we made a healthy sandwich. Students got to pick from grated carrot, grated cheese, lettuce, cucumber, ham or chicken. They had fun chosing their sandwich fillings.

What was your favourite sandwich filler?

Pyjama Day

Today we had a fundraising event for the Rolald McDonald House Charities. We have had a couple of students at our school use this charity, so we thought it was a nice way to give back to the community. We had so much fun getting dressed up in our Pyjamas for the day.

We had a Teddy Bears Picnic with all the Year1 students.

We raised $1000 dollars for The Ronald McDonald House Charities!

Mother's Day

Thank you to all our lovely family members who helped us celebrate Mother's Day this morning at the Mother’s Day Breakfast. We want to take this time to thank all our parents/carers for their support and thank you all for the amazing job you do.

Happy Mother's Day! Enjoy your weekend.

The Ridiculous Rhyme Show

On Thursday 9/5 we were lucky enough to attend The Ridiculous Rhyme Show. The Ridiculous Rhyme Show by CBeebies presenters Joe Chambers and Andrew Crawford is a primary school show which uses comedy to promote rhyming and poetry to students. The kids found it very funny. They had to think of rhyming words, sang funny songs and did some dancing at the end.

What are some words that you know that Rhyme?

Indigenous Performance

Today we watched a performance by Sean Choolburra! Some of our students were selected to help Sean play an instrument, do a dance or act out a story. The students were very entertained and stayed engaged throughout the entire performance.

As part of our focus on cross curriculum perspectives on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, we are pleased to host indigenous performer Sean Choolburra. Sean was born and raised in Townsville and his ancestors are Gu-GuYalanji, Kalkadoon, Kandju and Bwgcolman from around Townsville and Palm Island. He trained and toured internationally with the Bangarra Dance Company and was the creator and leader of the Naroo Dancers. Charismatic, vibrant and captivating, Sean fuses his engaging energy and humour with historical facts, spiritual wisdom, depth of ancestral understanding and knowledge, he is a very exciting and talented cultural ambassador. Dance, stories, painting, fire creation, didgeridoo playing - all are presented with a wonderful array of artefacts, from fishing nets to hunting shields.

Take a look at some of our photos!!!!
